Wipe Out Gun Cleaner
Wipe Out Gun Cleaner was the very first foaming “no scrubbing” cleaner that your spray in the barrel and let it sit for 60 minutes and then run a few patches through and you’re done. The foaming action coats the entire surface of the bore and loosens any fouling.
Take the Wipe Out Challenge
Here is Wipe Out’s challenge…take any gun you think is clean and spray Wipe Out in the barrel and let it sit for 1 hour. Now run a patch down the bore. If it comes out dirty (grayish black is powder fouling, blue is copper and tan/brown is carbon), your previous gun cleaner did not work well.
Wipe Out takes the brushing out of gun cleaning which can reduce wear on the bore and time for the shooter. I certainly don’t care for brushing a bore. Anything that limits or eliminates brushing is my kind of product.
I did try Wipe Out about 8 years ago on one of my Thompson Center Encore rifles. I think it was the 338 A-Square. It did clean the barrel really well and easily but I noticed that the bluing by the muzzle was stained where the foam exited the muzzle and run down the side of the barrel. I was not able to remedy the stain or actually lighter colored area caused by the Wipe Out. So my recommendation is to block/plug the muzzle before applying. Wipe off any overflow before it sits too long.
