The Hoppes Bore Snake is the ultimate tool for cleaning firearm bores which includes handguns, rifles and shotguns. Using a Hoppes Bore Snake makes gun cleaning much more efficient which means you spend less time cleaning and more time shooting.
So what is a Hoppes Bore Snake?
A Bore Snake is an ingenious tool that looks much like a piece of rope made from a cotton weave. Its about 24 – 30 inches in length and has 1 or 2 bronze bore brushes embedded inside the woven rope. There is a thinner sting attached to the front which enables you to pull the Bore Snake through the gun barrel. Let’s see a photo.
Here’s one of my Hoppes Bore Snakes. This one is for my 12 gauge shotgun. It only takes me 12 minutes to clean my shotgun after shooting 100 shells. I spray CLP gun cleaner in the barrel and wait 10 minutes. I then spray a small amount of gun cleaner on the front of the Bore Snake and then pull it through the barrel 3 times. Done.
Here is a close up of the Hoppes Bore Snake embedded bronze bore brushes. When you pull the Bore Snake through the barrel, the bore brushes remove any metal or plastic fouling. The soft woven rope will wipe it clean afterwards. It’s a snap to clean gun barrels. I reuse the Bore Snake several times before replacing. You can actually wash them and reuse them over and over.
